getting 👻 spooky 🕷

It’s finally October, which means it’s finally appropriate to listen to some spooky songs. Although, I wouldn’t judge you if you listen to these songs all year... There are times where I find myself listening to the Monster Mash in July. However, this playlist is not only full of classic Halloween party songs, it’s full of horror movie themes, and songs that just scream Halloween for no reason at all… The Devil Went Down To Georgia for example… but I won’t give it all away now.

I won’t lie to you, listening to some of these horror themes while I was putting this together, not only put me in the mood for the full moon coming this Halloween, but also reminded me to check under my bed and lock my doors before I go to sleep tonight.

So tune in for a not-so in-depth list of songs that will scare the sh!t out of you. Not really, but they’ll put you in the Halloween mood (since trick-or-treating and haunted houses can’t do that for you this year). Keep listening for several different versions of Ghostbusters…

  • Ghostbusters // Ray Parker Jr.

    • The classic.

  • Thriller // Michael Jackson

  • This is Halloween // From The Nightmare Before Christmas

    • A classic and personal favorite movie.

  • Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites // Skrillex

  • Ghostbusters // WALK THE MOON

    • Fun, right?

  • Stranger Things // The theme song

    • It’s spooky enough.

  • Rhiannon // Fleetwood Mac

    • The witchy vibes of Fleetwood and Stevie give me the BEST Halloween vibes.

  • Seven Wonders // Fleetwood Mac

  • The Devil Went Down to Georgia // The Charlie Daniels Band

  • Werewolves of London // Warren Zevon

    • Really not a spooky sounding song at all, but I had to include it solely because of the title. You get it.

  • Monster Mash

  • Somebody’s Watching Me // Rockwell

  • Spooky, Scary Skeletons // Andrew Gold

  • Time Warp // From The Rocky Horror Picture Show

    • DUH. Watch the movie.

  • Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid) // Fall Out Boy, Missy Elliot

  • Theme from Psycho

  • This is Halloween // Marilyn Manson

    • Personally, I love this version. It goes harder than the original, because that wouldn’t be appropriate for a movie that can be found on Disney+

  • Halloween Theme

  • Jaws Theme

  • The Conjuring Theme

  • The Exorcist Main Theme

  • Tiptoe Through the Tulips

    • Once you’ve seen insidious, this song is terrifying.

Hopefully none of these songs give you nightmares tonight. If they do, I’m sorry. If anything, I really hope it put you in the Halloween mood, since we can’t really do anything super Halloweeny this year :(

What songs or horror movie themes would you add?
