Easter in Asheville

This weekend was one for the books. We had a long weekend because of Easter and Good Friday, though our university won't admit it, so they call it a "study day." Shelby, Caitlyn, and I had been planning this one for a few months; we'd booked a hotel, put aside some money for gas, and planned to head to Asheville, North Carolina for the long weekend to get tattoos. Not matching ones of course, though that would be kind of funny. So we packed up all our stuff (I packed way more than I needed, per usual), and we left early Friday morning... because 9 a.m. is so early. And of course, me being me, I had to pee like an hour into it. But besides that, our road trip was filled with all the tunes. The good tunes. That's our forte... or at least Caitlyn's. Anyways, the drive was particularly enjoyable because we got to drive through the mountains, screw driving through cornfields and nothing, am I right Midwesterners?

After we checked in, we headed straight to a Goodwill to pick up some t-shirts. You know, for shits and giggles. Life is like Goodwill, you never know what you're gonna find. All three of us found things, and then we headed to a cute little cafe; they had the best smoothie and buddha bowl I've ever had ~ I'd definitely be a vegan if Myrtle Beach had restaurants like that everywhere. I'll insert a picture of my basic white girl food below.

We then drove around the mountains a little bit, I think we were looking for something, which we never found... but we did find a cute little lookout...

Following our little expedition in the mountains, we returned to the hotel rather frantically because Shelby's bladder was gonna explode... relatable af. And after relaxing for awhile, we went to a little Grille. The food wasn't great, but I don't remember if that's because I was really bloated already and didn't eat much, or if the food was actually bad. All I remember was Caitlyn's fries being really potato-ie

The next morning we ventured into downtown Asheville, which was cute af by the way, I'm sad I didn't take more pictures of the actual outside. But of course, I spent way too much money that day because I have 0 self control. But at least we had fun and bought ridiculous matching sunglasses...

All in all, it was a good day because we saw lots of dogs (which I'm also sad I didn't get pics of).

At around 5pm, we left to go get tatts. I was about 95% sure I was gonna chicken out, because I'm a baby. And I found out afterwards, that everyone else thought I was gonna chicken out too (jokes on you, I did it). Although Shelby did tell me she'd peer pressure me into doing it because she knew I'd wanted it for so long, exactly the love and support I need in my life, friends who don't let you chicken out <3

Anyway, I'm really really happy with how my tattoo turned out. It's a rose on my left side (see pictures below). For anyone who cares, let me just explain the meaning to you real quick (though I'm totally for tattoos that mean nothing but, I wanted it, so I got it). Obviously I find roses very beautiful, they're my favorite flower of course, but to me, it symbolizes so much, because roses themselves symbolize so much. Obviously I think it's pretty, and it's funny because my middle name is Rose... Also my best friend's name is Rosie... haha this one's for you Rosie ;)

Haha but really roses symbolize so much: passion, love & romance, friendship, wisdom, balance, clarity, and I could go on and on. But, one of the most important meanings for me was the placement. I think it looks really good where it is, it falls right under my bikini line, but I chose to get it on my left side to be closer to my heart, rather than having it on my right side. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'm already itching for more... sorry mom ;)

(Scroll to the last photo to see the final result).

For anyone who's wondering about the experience, I was completely expecting it to be unbearably painful... but it wasn't at all. Obviously it hurt some and I was super uncomfortable (mostly because it was a tad hard to take deep breaths during), but it was so worth it. I'm sure there will be plenty more pictures of the finished product in the future, just as there will likely be more tattoos in the future.
